Vinted Shoppers Voice Anger About Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
