Chalobah Set to Take Over from Marc Guehi in Three Lions National Team

Trevoh Chalobah in action

The Chelsea star emulated his sibling Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the twenty-first duo of brothers to play for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is likely to join up with the England squad to cover for unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is set to join the national side for England's final World Cup qualifying matches against Albania and Serbia, but it has not yet been made public.

The national side have already qualified for the upcoming tournament.

Chalobah earned his first invitation under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then played his first game against the Senegalese team.

In the month of September, Tuchel stated Chalobah was unlucky to be excluded from the squad for qualifiers against Serbia and Andorra, and also didn't call him up for the next October matches.

Tuchel has been an significant figure in Chalobah's career, having handed him his Chelsea first appearance in the year 2021.

Chalobah has appeared in all but four fixtures for Chelsea this season, with the team occupying third spot in the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup last eight and in the group stage of the Champions League.

Guehi sustained a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League victory over AZ Alkmaar in their last match.

There are likely to be additional additions to the squad. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has said that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (a concussion) will be unavailable from the squad.
