An aircraft ferrying Pete Hegseth was forced to make an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday due to a fissure was discovered in the plane's windshield, per an official announcement which stated that Hegseth was safe.

"The aircraft landed in accordance with standard procedures and all passengers, such as Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson said in a online announcement.

The secretary was coming back from a quick journey to the Belgian capital during the flight.

This event isn't the first time that a US military aircraft carrying a senior official has encountered equipment failures.

Earlier this year, a American military jet carrying the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was forced to return to Washington after experiencing a mechanical fault.
